    Post breakfast, proceed to  explore the charming village of Utelia. Founded in 1786 by Bhav Sinhji, a member of the Vaghela Rajput clan, Utelia is rich in history and tradition. This Rajput clan once wielded significant power across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Malwa, and Rewa.

    One of the highlights of Utelia is the Palace Utelia, constructed around the turn of the 20th century. This palace was built by Nekamdar Thakore Saheb Sur Sinhji to replace a previous wooden structure. The Palace Utelia is a fine example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, characterized by its fusion of Indian and European styles. The palace features five distinctive domes, pillared galleries, and spacious balconies, as well as elegant porticos that reflect the grandeur of its time.

    Morning drive to Palitana post breakfast.

    The temples in Palitana are a marvel of architecture and artistry. They range from tiny shrines nestled in the hills' nooks and caves to magnificent structures adorned with golden flagpoles and vibrant colored glass.     Later, drive to Gir National Park. Spanning approximately 35 square kilometers, Gir is a tranquil sanctuary characterized by savannah-type grasslands. The park is renowned for hosting the largest population of Black Bucks in the world.

    • Black Bucks: The park boasts the highest concentration of Black Bucks globally. These elegant antelopes are a notable feature of the park’s wildlife.

    Post breakfast, you will embark on two game drives in Gir National Park - one at first light and another in the mid-afternoon. Gir National Park is unique as it is the only place outside Africa where you can see Asiatic lions in their natural habitat.     In addition to lions, Gir is home to one of the largest populations of leopards in India. This makes it an excellent location for observing these elusive big cats as well.     Post breakfast, drive to Gondal, the center of the former princely state of Gondal.

Maharajah Bhagwat Sinhji, in particular, is highly esteemed and continues to be revered by the local populace. This respect is evident throughout the town, reflecting the lasting impact of the royal family on Gondal’s development and community.

    Gondal Sightseeing

    Post breakfast, visit Naulakha Palace, the oldest surviving palace in Gondal. The palace is renowned for its intricate stone carvings, exquisite balconies, a splendid pillared courtyard, delicately carved arches, and a unique spiral staircase.

    Next, head to Khadi Plaza, a prominent center for handloom weaving in Gondal. As one of Gujarat's major handloom units, Khadi Plaza showcases the traditional art of weaving and its importance in the region’s cultural heritage.

    If time permits, visit the Bhuvaneswari Ayurveda Pharmacy. This historic pharmacy is notable for its connection to Mahatma Gandhi, as the father of the current owner is reputed to have conferred the title Mahatma on Gandhi.     Once a fortified town with walls approximately 8 meters high and 1.2 meters wide, Mandvi is a lively place known for its shipbuilding yard, where skilled craftsmen build wooden boats by hand for traders from across the Arabian Sea. The town enjoys a pleasant climate year-round and was historically a summer retreat for the Maharajas of Kutch.
