Arrival at Delhi & Transfer to Hotel

Our representative will receive you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel.

Delhi, the capital of kingdoms and empires, is now a sprawling metropolis blending the past with the present. It serves as a perfect introduction to India’s composite culture and offers a window into its kaleidoscopic history.

Begin your exploration with a guided tour of the Red Fort.

The Red Fort, a key landmark of Old Delhi, was constructed from 1638 to 1648 during the height of the Mughal Empire. Shah Jahan moved the capital from Agra to Delhi, laying the foundation for Shahjahanabad, the seventh city of Delhi. Enclosed by a rubble stone wall, the fort features bastions, gates, and wickets, though some gates, such as the Mori, Lahori, Ajmeri, Turkman, Kashmiri, and Delhi gates, have been demolished. The Lal-Qila, or Red Fort, situated on the Yamuna's right bank, was begun in 1639 and completed after nine years. Unlike the Agra Fort, the Red Fort’s design benefits from Shah Jahan’s experience and was built as a single project. It has an irregular octagon shape, with long sides to the east and west, and two main gates: the Lahori Gate on the west and the Delhi Gate on the south. While the fort’s walls and gates are constructed of red sandstone, the palaces within are adorned with marble.

Continue the drive to Baby Taj (Itmad-ud-Daulah's Tomb) just before reaching Agra.

Itmad-ud-Daulah: Often referred to as the "Baby Taj" due to its intricate design, this tomb was built in 1628 by Nur Jahan, the Empress of Jahangir, for her father. Itmad-ud-Daulah, originally a poor Persian merchant named Mirza Ghiyas Beg, rose to prominence as a trusted minister in Akbar's court. After Akbar's death, his son Jahangir honored him with the title Itmad-ud-Daulah, or "Pillar of State." The tomb is constructed entirely of white marble and features exquisite inlay work and marble screens, set amidst a tranquil garden on the Yamuna Riverbank.

Proceed to Agra and arrive in time for a late lunch.

Agra: Once the second capital of the Mughal Empire under Akbar and Shah Jahan, Agra is renowned for its architectural splendor, with contrasting red sandstone and white marble buildings, narrow alleys, and charming buggies. The city still vividly reflects its Mughal heritage.
